EMERGENCY ROADS UPDATE I

We have started making passable routes! But first, I want to update you on the Apache County Emergency view of our situation: I have not gotten a call back. I have called them back and left a message. I recommend we remain cautious about the County being able to provide us any help. I'll keep trying to get in touch with them. I have attached a picture to this post that shows the fishbone structure of our identified known-good routes to CR7230.

This map is not live for you to click on, but we will be adding updates as they come in. For instance, just before I started typing, the grader operator sent GPS pins for an area on N7135 that has had to be actually closed to traffic. There is an exposed culvert on this route, and people keep driving over it. THESE CULVERTS ARE YOURS!! PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE OVER THEM!! Until we can get back to this area and repair it for real (probably adding additional culverts), we can't allow the one remaining culvert to get destroyed. The Strategy: We have in mind making it possible to get to CR7230 by a couple of different routes. The BLUE route is the best route for S and W people to get to N7230. The PURPLE dashed routes are ways to get to CR7230 from more norther and eastern locations.

These routes are being made NAVIGABLE. They are not being made perfect. There is still a lot of Monsoon Season to get through before we can expect the repairs we make today to stay in place if more weather comes. And, more weather is coming.

Many people are sending the POA email pics of road damage. This has been very helpful. If you want to send us pics, please also send us the day and location. This really makes a difference for us in being able to use the information. Some people are asking for signage. Please understand, we are in an ALL HANDS ON DECK moment. If you feel a sign would be a good idea, please go ahead and put out a sign or two, more if you like. Love thy neighbor through safety signage! We do all own this place and share in the need to protect it and each other. Once I hit publish on this, I'm heading out to put up some signs myself!! Please help!!

Many people are talking about a group effort to combine privately owned equipment in fixing the roads. That is fully on the table. We are working out liabilities and how to deal with that stuff in an emergency situation like we are in. Behind the scenes there is a lot of activity. I am hoping that by blogging here, you can all see what we are working on. We also hope you can hear the grader going by your place.
